WHY THIS TRAINING? - This on-line program is part of the required training to become a USSF soccer official. The intent is to provide you with the basic information about the Laws of the Game. The information contained in the Initial Training Module covers Laws 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, & 17 and will not be covered in detail in the classroom sessions. Therefore, you need to study this specific material prior to the first classroom session. MATERIAL & KNOWLEDGE CHECK - After completing the Initial Training Module there will be a knowledge check (quiz) that must be taken prior to attending the first classroom session. Your answers are not recorded and no one will know how well or how poorly you did. If you miss a question, you will be given the correct information. The remaining laws (Supplemental Training Module) are reference materials that will be covered in detail in the classroom sessions. HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE? - It may take you several hours to complete this Initial Training Module so do not wait until the last minute. Each individual Law presentation is broken into two segments (the Law and More Information). It is important that you review both segments for a full understanding. WHY DO I NEED TO TAKE CLASSROOM TRAINING? - While the Initial Training Module may be effective for the simple and straightforward laws, the other laws found in the Supplemental Training Module are more complex and require more demonstration, practical application, and examples to be fully understood prior to going out on the field for the first time. WHAT IF I HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE MATERIAL AND CAN NOT COMPLETE IT IN TIME? - If you can not complete the training prior to the first class, e-mail Jack Dockery (dockery@math.montana.edu) for recommendations/requirements prior to attending the first classroom session. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN! |
